Our Story
Clean Healthy Water was built from real field experience and a practical problem-solving, and a deep commitment to helping communities access safer, cleaner, and more sustainable water. Our journey began with a simple but serious problem: a dirty rainwater tank that needed cleaning during wet weather. That challenge led to the development of a practical vacuum-based cleaning method designed to remove. sediment and sludge with minimal water loss. From that starting point, the work expanded into water treatment, ozone applications, and sustainable water solutions for communities, institutions, and critical facilities across the Pacific.
How It Started
In 2011, while living with my family in Halaleva, Tongatapu, Tonga, I faced a problem that many island families know too well. Our rainwater tank was dirty, and it needed to be cleaned. The problem was that it was raining, and emptying the entire tank felt like wasting valuable water. After going through the hard work of bailing water out by bucket, cleaning the tank, and hoping the rain would refill it, I realized there had to be a better way.
That moment sparked an idea. Instead of emptying a full tank just to remove the sediment at the bottom, why not create a system that could vacuum out the dirt and sludge while keeping most of the water? That idea became the beginning of a practical tank cleaning solution designed specifically for island conditions, where water is precious and waste must be minimized.
From Problem to Practical Solution
What started as one solution for one tank became a wider mission. In 2011, Aisea Langi developed vacuum cleaning method that could remove sediment from rainwater tanks with minimal water loss – making tank cleaning more efficient, practical, and sustainable. The motivation was personal: ensuring safe water for his own children. That same concern drove a commitment to help families, schools, clinics, and communities across the Pacific protect their water supply.
Expanding into Water Treatment
Along the way, collaboration with scientist and fish pathologist Larry Sharron strengthen the technical side of water treatment – introducing ozone sterilisation and practical field – tested methods. This relationship led to formal certification through A2Z Ozone (Kentucky, USA), expanding CHW’s ability to offer advanced treatment solutions for rainwater, and diverse water sources requiring reliable improvement.
Serving Tonga – Institutions, Communities and Disaster Relief
By 2012, CHW’s predecessors CRI Tonga and Omni Services Tonga was active across the Kingdom of Tonga, partnering with the National Emergency Management Office (NEMO), The Ministry of Health(MOH), and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints(LDS). Work spanned household tanks, institutional facilities, churches, and rural villages throughout Tongatapu, ‘Eua, Vavau islands, and Ha’apai islands.
A defining moment came with Cyclone Ian in 2014, one of the most destructive cyclones ever to strike Tonga. CHW (CRI Tonga & Omni Services Tonga) partnered with LDS church responded with disaster relief water services in Ha’apai, cleaning and restoring tanks for families who had lost access to safe water in the aftermath of the storm. This work demonstrated what community-rooted water expertise could achieve in a crisis.
Growing the Work into Fiji
After relocating to Fiji in 2019, CHW established its Fiji operations and quickly built partnerships with key national institutions – including the Ministry of Health (MOH Fiji) and the WASH Fiji network, where CHW is a registered service provider and partner. The SOF filtration system developed during this period was vetted by the Ministry of Health Fiji.
CHW’s reach has. extended across schools, orphanages, health facilities, military bases, churches, and communities throughout both nations – anywhere that reliable, safe water is essential.
Our Commitment to Sustainable Water Solutions
At Clean Healthy Water, we are dedicated to providing innovative, environmentally responsible water treatment solutions that empower island communities and protect our planet for future generations.
We believe that practical, field-ready solutions — not large capital projects — are the fastest path to cleaner water for Pacific communities. Our work is grounded in 15+ years of hands-on experience, internationally certified ozone technology, and the trust of communities and institutions across Tonga and Fiji.
Today, CHW continues to grow its reach across Fiji and the Pacific — working alongside schools, hospitals, government facilities, military bases, rural communities, and international partners to deliver safe, sustainable water wherever it is needed most.
